Facts about homelessness and addiction

  • In the autumn of 2013 the total of rough sleeping counts and estimates in England was 2,414 - 22% were from London. Department for Communities and Local Government.
  • Alcohol misuse costs England approximately £21bn per year in healthcare, crime and lost productivity costs, Department of Health written evidence submitted to House of Commons Health Committee Third Report of Session 2012-13.
  • It's estimated that in England there are up to 1.3m children affected by parental alcohol problems. Alcohol Harm Reduction Strategy.
  • For every £1 invested in specialist alcohol treatment, £5 is saved on health, welfare and crime costs. National Treatment Agency of Substance Misuse.
