Mentoring the SCT Communications Team
As a resident of the East End for the past 7 years, I was looking for a way to give back to my local community.
Impressed by the variety of work that Spitalfields Crypt Trust (SCT) has been doing for the past 50 years and the reach of their work, I contacted them looking for opportunities.
I was ready to roll up my sleeves and help at the Drop in, but when the communications team replied, asking if I would be interested in acting as a mentor, not only was I flattered but I jumped at the chance.
It’s such a great experience to add value sharing my skills and experience, particularly from working on campaigns and CSR at The Body Shop.
Sonia and the team are just fantastic, they’ve been very welcoming and they’re remarkable professionals.
"I’m confident that everyone has skills and experience that they could offer SCT, the variety of their projects and services is truly impressive."
It’s also a wonderful feeling to know that your work is helping some of the most vulnerable people in our community, people who just need a second chance and some confidence to rebuild their lives.
Acting as a mentor I meet with the communications team for a couple of hours every month and then we work together via email.
This has worked really well with my schedule as I can volunteer in my free time from home.
I recommend that everyone volunteer to be a SCT mentor!
