SCT supports people at all stages of the recovery journey. One of the areas that is critical to recovery is training and development through art classes, digital skills development and literacy sessions.

Recovery is challenging.

Losing support networks has a massive impact on people struggling with homelessness and addiction. Liam* was able to find hope in a difficult time within the community at Acorn House:

“When I relapsed, I was pulled into this madness, and I wasn’t connecting with anyone. At SCT I felt like I had a support network again; I was starting to connect with people again. Seeing the other guys here get involved with the programme and supporting one another, made me feel secure and gave me confidence to engage with what SCT offers. I can survive, but when there are bumps in the road, I do find it difficult to handle it by myself”

Acorn House is a rehabilitation centre, run by SCT, that ensures people in recovery from homelessness and addiction get the support they need. Liam has seen first-hand the benefits of being a resident of Acorn House.

“My progression worker has helped me work out my long-term goals, and I set about achieving them with her support. We made a list of achievement goals and I’m now back in college training to be an electrician. I am so grateful for being able to have come here and had the opportunity to get it right this time”

With your support, SCT can continue to run Acorn House, alongside delivering training and development opportunities counselling, financial advice and relationship management.
