Choices

Relapse prevention is a big part of our work. For people in the later stages of recovery, our peer-led recovery community, Choices, helps prevent relapse by providing social, cultural and therapeutic events by people who are themselves in recovery.

Choices is a diverse community of people in recovery from addiction. Members attend Choices to connect with others and build a support network, gain confidence, try new things and support their recovery. We run creative projects where the community work together over a number of workshops and wellbeing sessions to support positive mental health and wellbeing.

Choices groups meet twice a week, and we ask that our members participate in at least one activity per week.

What's on

Wellbeing Wednesdays

Wednesdays 1pm – 6pm

An hour together, 1.30pm – 2.30pm

Get to know the community by sharing, listening and being. Each week a different theme will be chosen, discussed and shared. It is a confidential and supportive space and a chance to grow connections and support networks.

Wellbeing session, 3:00pm – 4:00pm

Every week we will host a different wellbeing activity to ground and connect you with the present moment. It’s also a great way to look after your mental and physical wellbeing.

• 29th September – Yoga
• 6th October – Exercise
• 13th October – Mindfulness
• 20th October – Park walk
• 27th October – Mindful colouring
• 3rd November – Wellness week plan
• 10th November – Zine-making or collages

Creative project and meal together

Fridays, 1pm – 6pm

Each creative project will run for 6 – 8 weeks and is an opportunity for the community to work together to create something great. The projects are in the form of art, music, dance, creative writing etc. There will be an opportunity to showcase work at the end of the project to other members of the community and SCT.

After the creative workshop, the community come together to eat a meal prepared by members at the end of the day.

Upcoming creative projects, Fridays 2- 4pm

Friday 24th September – Friday 12th November

Creative Writing: Based on the theme of community, we will produce pieces of creative writing that can be displayed in the windows of our charity shops as part of SCT’s annual winter appeal. Each week the workshop will be split into sections with different activities based around creative writing so no experience needed and no level of literacy required either! Everyone is welcome.
